Mr. Javier Colomina
Special Representative for Southern Neighborhood and Acting Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy
Javier Colomina is the Acting Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood. He has served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia (2021-2024), and as the Deputy Permanent Representative, Spanish Delegation to NATO (2017-2021). From 2014 to 2017, he served as Political Counsellor, Head of the Political Section, Embassy of Spain in Tokyo, Japan, while from 2011 to 2014 he was Senior Adviser for multilateral and security issues of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet of the Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain. Calomina also served as Political Counsellor, Embassy of Spain in Buenos Aires, Argentina (2008-2011), Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Spain in Damascus, Syria (2006-2008), and he was the First Secretary, Mission of Spain to the U.N., New York, USA (2002-2006). In 2001, Calomina entered the Diplomatic Service at the Human Rights Bureau, as Head of European Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain.
